  • The Special Sauce of Social Learning.  Social media and social learning are attracting a lot of attention, but don't overlook the fact that it's not the technology that makes them effective. Here are the eight ingredients you need to make social learning successful.  Read Marc's new feature article in Learning Solutions Magazine here.
  • Would training have solved this problem?  Marc had an opportunity to comment on lawsuit brought by a Haitian-American hotel employee who was not allowed to serve guests who requested service only by white employees. A solid training strategy may not be enough. Read the article, "When the Customer Isn't Right," in HR Executive Online.
  • How do you bridge the gap between training and I.T.?  With more enterprise technology being used today for learning, this is an important question.  Marc and Steve Foreman explore this critical issue in a new article, "Locked Out: Bridging the Divide between Training and Information Technology," published by the eLearning Guild in their online Learning Solutions magazine.  You can read the article here.

Unique Capabilities

With organizational learning and performance improvement as his life's work, Marc has helped define -- and redefine the field for more than two decades.  Today, Marc brings this perspective, along with a set of five unique capabilities, to each consulting and speaking engagement:

  • Strategic View.  Organizational learning is a critical business tool that includes, but also transcends the classroom or training function.  By looking beyond the five to ten percent of the yearly work time that people are in formal training, and applying learning and knowledge strategies to actual job performance, day in and day out, maximum impact and value is achieved.
  • Outstanding Platform Skills.  Long-standing reputation as a keynote speaker and workshop leader for both public/professional and private/corporate functions.
  • Thought Leadership through Deep Experience.  Twenty-five years of work in university, corporate and consulting settings brings a wealth of deep professional knowledge to each engagement, including the insight that comes from "lessons learned."
  • Flexible Network of Resources.  The ability to draw from a network of highly talented individuals and firms, across a broad spectrum of skills and disciplines, ensures that resources are precisely matched to the needs of the project and the expectations of the client.
  • Strong Facilitation and Change Management Skills.  Even the best strategies can be ineffective if they are not communicated well or supported over the long term.  Helping people communicate -- and build buy-in -- before, during and after implementation, is critical.

    New Workshop: "Managing Organizational Knowledge"

    Sponsored by ASTD

Effective knowledge sharing enhances employee performance, fosters innovation, and facilitates the exchange of an organization's most important commodity - the "know-how" of the people who make the difference between success and failure. Leveraging organizational knowledge for maximum impact requires approaches that include, but also transcend formal training. Workplace learning and performance professionals will increasingly use Knowledge Management (KM) strategies to create information repositories, communities of practice, access to experts and expertise, and other new approaches that will enable anytime, anywhere knowledge and collaboration, in the context of work. Principles and benefits of KM, a framework for making KM a reality, strategies for enhancing organizational readiness for KM, and the implications of KM for the training field, will be covered in this interactive, non-technical workshop.

This one and a half day workshop is based on the ASTD Competency Study, and helps in preparation for obtaining the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential.  The workshop is taught by Marc Rosenberg.  Click here for more information, including description, objectives, registration, fees, dates and locations (including offerings co-located with ASTD conferences).  This program can also be delivered on-site.

Marc Rosenberg is a Certified Performance Technologist (CPT).  The CPT designation is awarded by the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) to experienced practitioners in the field of organizational performance improvement, whose work meets both the performance-based Standards of Performance Technology and application requirements.  For more information, visit www.CertifiedPT.org.
